I was on TV!

We had lots of fun in Utah this weekend, spending time with family and singing. I sang on Saturday night for the President's Club Banquet, which is for people who have donated money to my school. It was held on the top floor of the Church Administration Building, with President Monson in attendance. After singing, President Clark spoke briefly, then President Monson spoke for a good 45 minutes probably. He's really neat to hear in person. He spoke mostly without preparation, but did read a few prepared remarks. As he read is remarks he would pause and say things like "I rather like that line," or "this part is really good," it was pretty funny. It was kind of like being in your living room listening to your grandfather tell stories as he talked about some experiences he had growing up.

The next day we got up at 6, warmed up a little, then went over to the Tabernacle. It was really neat sitting in the choir seats with that huge choir. I enjoyed listening to them rehearse too, and finding out that their director corrected them the same things that ours always does, things like pronunciation, word inflection, breathing etc. They're human too after all. I was also impressed when our director told them not to breathe at a certain part in the song he had arranged, and they all immediately pulled out pencils, marked their music, then did it correctly the next time (while some of us got it wrong). All in all it was a great time.

If you didn't catch the Music and the Spoken Word broadcast you can see it on www.byu.tv Just change the date to Sunday March 16, and go to Music and the Spoken Word at 9:30. I'm on the second row from the bottom, last one on the right (of the Collegiate Singers).
